AFRICA ( Commonwealth Union) _ The  South Africa’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa stated that the country will leave the International Criminal Court (ICC) , which last month issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin, has decided that South Africa should leave. According to President Cyril Ramaphosa, the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party has made this decision. Putin would have to be detained upon arrival in Pretoria, which is hosting the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) bloc summit this year due to the March warrant against him.

During a news conference co-hosted with the visiting President of Finland, Sauli Niinisto, Ramaphosa stated that the governing party has taken that decision that it is prudent that South Africa should pull out of the ICC. Ramaphosa further stated that  the  African National Congress has decided that South Africa should leave the ICC because it is pragmatic. Our opinion is that this issue of unjust treatment should be thoroughly explored, largely due to the way the ICC has been perceived to be handling these types of issues. He was addressing the media while hosting his Finnish colleague Sauli Väinämö Niinistö at the Union buildings in Pretoria.

At its conference the previous year, the ANC adopted a resolution to revoke its conference resolution from 2017.

After the ICC issued an arrest warrant for former Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir, the conference urged its deployees in government to withdraw from the Rome Statute in 2017. The party has since reversed course.Over the weekend, it once more required a decision to begin the withdrawal from the ICC.

In conclusion, Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, was recently the subject of a warrant of arrest notification, according to President Ramaphosa. Putin is scheduled to attend the BRICS conference in South Africa in August. However, the contentious decision to evacuate  was overturned when a domestic court determined that doing so would have violated the constitution.
