Toronto’s city councillor says that antisemitic graffiti, which called for the death of Jews in Toronto, has been cleaned up.

Posting on social media, a Toronto resident responded, citing the graffiti, saying it was ‘disturbing’.

A local resident posted on X about anti-Semitic graffiti witnessed in Toronto’s west end on Monday, 19 January 2026.

A spokesperson for the office of Amber Morley, the councillor for Etobicoke-Lakeshore and deputy mayor for Etobicoke, which is where the graffiti was located, told the National Post that city staff visited the area & painted over the hate message.

The spokesperson said their office doesn’t allow hate or antisemitism, so they contacted the police.

City councillor for Beaches-East York, Brad Bradford, said he was disgusted by the graffiti after witnessing a post on X about it by Toronto resident Christine Van Geyn. She posted a video on X on Monday, January 19, that showed the words “Kill Jews for peace,” which were scrawled in black under a bridge at Royal York Road and Dundas St. W.

In an emailed statement to the National Post, Bradford revealed a shocking increase in antisemitism targeting Toronto’s Jewish community.

Bradford added that Jewish restaurants have been firebombed, Jewish girls’ schools have been shot at, and Jewish neighbourhoods have been targeted by hateful protests. Hateful graffiti tends to clog our streets, parks and sidewalks. It’s quite disgusting & abhorrent, so it needs to stop immediately.

Bradford shared the post on X, saying that we were far too used to seeing disgusting antisemitic graffiti like this in Toronto.

Bradford went on further in citing that leadership was about denouncing it clearly & consistently. This was, besides taking action to put an end to it.

Van Geyn told the National Post that she shared the video because it was in her neighbourhood. She added that she believes that people need to understand what the Jewish community is increasingly living with.
