California, USA (CU)_ Withings, the market leader in connected health products for the home, announced the purchase of 8fit app, which is a global health, fitness, and wellness app with over 40 million subscribers. The deal’s financial specifics were not revealed. The purchase is part of a $30 million investment. Within the next three years, Withings will announce more investments in its goal to integrate breakthrough medical equipment with personal health and wellness regimens. This announcement comes after the purchase of Impeto Medical last month, which is a leader in the research and development, production, and distribution of novel medical equipment for clinicians.
The app 8fit was founded in 2014 and aims at encouraging healthy living through individualized nutrition, physical activity, and mindfulness events that target all facets of a user’s health and assist them in achieving their overall health objectives. 8fit, which is available in six languages, provides users with effective exercises, tailored meal plans, and self-care counseling to clients including HIIT, boxing, Pilates, yoga, and meditation, as well as hundreds of balanced, nutritious, and easy-to-prepare meals. Similar to Withings, 8fit’s individualized programs are centered on the user’s health. Rather than being a sports performance app, 8fit exchanges a long-term health focus with Withings.
Lisette Fabian, CEO of 8fit, expressed hopes over the acquisition and stated that the collaboration will benefit millions of customers. He said, “From the services we offer, it’s clear that Withings and 8fit are aligned to help users achieve their health goals. We are excited to combine Withings’ expertise in connected health devices that collect accurate, quality data with our fitness and nutrition plans.
