Diaspora (Commonwealth Union) _ Shohini Sinha, an Indian-American, has been appointed as the special agent in charge of the FBI’s field office in Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. The FBI Director, Christopher Wray, praised Sinha’s exceptional track record in counter-terrorism investigations and her extensive experience within the agency. Sinha’s impressive career in the FBI began in 2001 when she joined as a special agent at the Milwaukee Field Office, where she focused on counter-terrorism investigations.

Throughout her career, Sinha demonstrated versatility and dedication by taking on various temporary assignments, including working at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, the FBI Legal Attaché Office in London, and the Baghdad Operations Centre. She earned recognition for her outstanding performance and was promoted to supervisory special agent in 2009, leading her to the Counterterrorism Division in Washington, DC.

In 2012, Sinha achieved another milestone as she became the assistant legal attaché in Ottawa, Canada, where she worked closely with Canadian law enforcement agencies on counterterrorism matters. Her upward trajectory continued as she became a field supervisor in the Detroit Field Office in 2015, where she led squads investigating complex international terrorism cases.

Sinha’s adaptability and interest in cutting-edge matters led her to the cyber intrusion squad in early 2020, where she handled national security and criminal cyber intrusion cases with expertise. Later that year, she was promoted to assistant special agent in charge for national security matters in the Portland Field Office.

In 2021, Sinha’s exceptional performance led to her appointment as the executive special assistant to the FBI Director in Washington, DC, where she played a vital role in high-level initiatives and positively impacted the agency’s operations.

Before joining the FBI, Sinha worked as a therapist and administrator for a private, not-for-profit clinic in Indiana. Her educational background in psychology and mental health counselling from Purdue University contributed to her success in both counselling and law enforcement.

With her wealth of experience and expertise in counter-terrorism investigations, Shohini Sinha is now tasked with leading the FBI’s field office in Salt Lake City, furthering her impactful career in the agency.
