PSN chairman, Abuja branch Pharm, Ifeanyi Ikebudu, said at the weekend event that the free health screening that was conducted as part of the events to honor the pharmacist day was aimed at traders in the region, who are usually very busy to check their health condition until they are ill. He went on to say that the screening, which comprises a blood pressure check, a malaria test, an HIV test, a hepatitis test, and an eye exam, would help to identify whether any of the traders are susceptible to any sickness that may be treated early before they progress to the incurable stage.

Chinelo Okonkwo, the secretary of the Abuja branch PCN, also highlighted the importance of frequent check-ups for Nigerians, noting that some ailments, such as high blood pressure, are silent killers that show no symptoms but may lead to immediate death. Dr. Abubakar Dauraka, the vice chairman of the Branch, said the initiative was a corporate social responsibility since the company decided  to give back to the community. According to him, the cost of the full package for the free exercise for an individual was more than N25,000.
