BANJUL, Gambia (CU)_During the period between 2016 and 2017, Gambia suffered a severe shortage in the supply of water and electricity. Therefore, the World Bank decided to intervene in 2018 and provided a new generator worth $2.1 million to the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC). Subsequently, the international financial institution provided another €1.2 million to the national electricity and water provider for the refurbishment of the G-8 generator at Kotu Power Station and the G-7 generator at Brikama.
