Global (Commonwealth) _ The whole set of rules for the current Intercontinental Championship tournament was just made public by WWE.

A competition is now taking place in the Stamford-based promotion to determine who will battle Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental title. On tonight’s RAW show, August 26, the tournament got underway. To qualify, Jey Uso defeated Kofi Kingston and Karrion Kross in the first round.

Pete Dunne qualified after defeating The Miz and Xavier Woods in the second bout. WWE withdrew the tournament regulations as the incident went on. There will be four triple-threat matches throughout the event. The four victors of those contests will face off against Breakker in a Fatal 4-way match to contend for the title.

After the Bash in Berlin PLE, the next two triple-threat matches are set to take place. Additionally, Dominick Mysterio has entered the event.

There was a nasty exchange between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre in tonight’s RAW program. The Second City Saint once again shocked McIntyre with a surprise at the start of the segment, during which he was furiously accusing Punk of attacking him nonstop for the previous few months.

Prior to the assault, CM Punk streamed a live Instagram video to his account, sharing how he strategically planned his blowout with Drew McIntyre. Punk hid beneath the ring and watched McIntyre’s whole portion on a monitor before emerging for his turn.

This seemed to have exposed one of WWE’s best-kept secrets throughout the years about the way stars carried out their unexpected attacks. The competition to decide who would be the top challenger for the WWE Intercontinental Championship got underway on tonight’s WWE Raw.

There will be four triple threat bouts (two per week) over the course of the next two weeks, with the winner being determined by which four progress to a fatal four-way contest on Raw in two weeks. The top candidate for Bron Breakker’s Intercontinental Title will be determined by the outcome of the four-way race.

WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts made an unexpected disclosure on his evolving feelings toward Hulk Hogan in a recent episode of his podcast, “The Snake Pit.” The contest, which took place on April 1, 1990, in the SkyDome in Toronto, Canada, featured The Ultimate Warrior and Hogan in a historic title-for-title match. The WWE icon continued to compliment Hogan’s performance and gave him credit for the outcome of the bout.

They both put in some time, and he went out there and worked the match. That match was made by him. That was all he did; that particular match altered my perception of the Hulkster. The American promotion WWE produced and marketed the men’s professional wrestling title known as the WWE Intercontinental title, which is defended by the Raw brand division. Along with the WWE United States Championship on SmackDown, it is one of two subsidiary titles on the WWE main roster.

Currently holding the title for the first time is Bron Breakker. He defeated Sami Zayn at SummerSlam on August 3, 2024, to win the championship.

On September 1, 1979, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) created the championship after unifying the WWF North American Heavyweight Championship with a fictitious South American Heavyweight belt. Pat Patterson was the first champion of the new belt. After the WWE Championship (1963) and the United States Championship (1975), it is the third-oldest championship in WWE that is presently in use. However, it has had the second-longest tenure, as WWE has only held the U.S. championship since 2001.

While it is often challenged in the midcard of WWE events, it has been upheld in the main event of pay-per-views like as Extreme Rules in 2018, SummerSlam in 1992, In Your House shows the third and eighth times, Backlash in 2001, and WrestleMania VI. It’s been referred to as a “stepping stone” to the WWE world title.

The Intercontinental Championship was created in November 2001 by unifying the former WWC United States Championship. Following the initial brand split’s inception in 2002, it was limited to Raw, and the WWF was rebranded as the WWE. The European and Hardcore titles were combined later that year to form the Intercontinental Championship, which was then combined to form the World Heavyweight Championship (original edition).
