50 buses to run on fuel that’s cleaner than CNG

New Delhi (CWBN)_ From Tuesday onwards, New Delhi’s roads will see 50 buses running on hydrogen-enriched compressed natural gas (HCNG), a cleaner fuel than compressed natural gas (CNG). This move is part of a 6 month pilot project for a more economical and eco-friendly power output.

As a solution to Delhi National Capital Region’s (NCR) poor air quality, the Supreme Court had suggested looking at hydrogen-run vehicles. HCNG vehicles might be a positive step in that direction. For the transition, the same buses running on CNG can be used with a little tuning required and the purchase of separate buses will not be necessary. 

The fuel emissions of the newly-tuned buses will be recorded for six months and reports will be submitted to the Supreme Court for evaluation.
