Pakistan(CWBN)_As political pressures in Pakistan intensify, the country’s parliament is due to gather today (19th October) with nine bills set to be discussed along with a 48-point agenda, which includes motions of onslaught against PM Imran Khan and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Coalition (PTI), put forward by the opposition, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

The PDM intends to review the Government’s performance, since its inception in 2018 and to discuss contentious issues, such as that raised by Sirajul Haq concerning price hikes on 94 life-saving drugs.

The sessions are due to commence after three consecutive days of discord in the parliament, including the protest held during the National Assembly that forced Khan out of the parliament along with the speech he had intended to make, leading up to a two day recess.

The protest was followed by a major gathering of PDM and other opposition parties that took place on Sunday (18th October) in Lahore. CWBN was informed that major personalities, including Maryam Nawaz, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Fazal-ur-Rehman, were also present. The anti-government movement, supported by large crowds of supports and activists, is the second demonstration to take place demanding the removal of Khan from office.

Moreover, allegations of tampering with the 2018 elections were levied against the PTI alongside plans to separate the city of Karachi from the Province of Sindh and the occupation of islands beyond Balochistan and Sindh shorelines, under the Pakistan Island Development Authority (PIDA).
