Africa (Commonwealth Union) _ President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to transformative projects during a visit to Enugu State, promising significant advancements in infrastructure, energy, and security. Engaging with Southeast leaders, Tinubu emphasized his commitment to completing the Eastern Rail Line linking Port Harcourt and Maiduguri, a project poised to enhance trade and boost Nigeria’s economic prospects. He assured attendees that this undertaking, already partially completed between Port Harcourt and Aba, remains a priority for his government.

In addressing the region’s energy potential, Tinubu highlighted plans to develop the Anambra Basin, which holds vast reserves of oil and gas. Local stakeholders champion this move, which aims to drive industrial growth and power generation. The President acknowledged the immense opportunities this resource presents, pledging federal support for its full realization.

Security, a pressing concern in the Southeast, also featured prominently in discussions. National Commissioner Onyemauche Nnamani advocated for modern surveillance infrastructure and a shift from conventional roadblocks to advanced security measures. Tinubu echoed the importance of innovation in ensuring safety, stressing that robust security underpins development.

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State showcased remarkable progress under his administration, highlighting projects such as the Smart Green Schools and a revamped healthcare system. Mbah’s vision to grow Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion over four years aligns with Tinubu’s federalist policies. The Governor credited Tinubu’s reforms, including the liberalization of electricity through the amended Electricity Act, for enabling these achievements.

Tinubu lauded Mbah for his leadership, calling him a model for development. He commended the governor’s commitment to ending the illegal sit-at-home orders that had disrupted regional productivity. Tinubu emphasized unity beyond political and regional differences, urging Nigerians to work collectively to build a prosperous nation.

In a testament to collaborative governance, Tinubu inaugurated several projects, including advanced security facilities and educational institutions. His administration’s focus on infrastructure and social investment signals a new era of growth for Nigeria’s Southeast. Tinubu’s reassurances and the active engagement of leaders like Mbah inspire hope for a united and thriving Nigeria, driven by shared determination and innovative solutions.
