How Did a Political Science Student from Ganganagar Become Miss Universe India?

Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_ Manika Vishwakarma, a 22-year-old from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, has been crowned Miss Universe India 2025. She will now represent the country on the global Miss Universe stage, set to take place later this year in Thailand. Jaipur hosted the grand finale on August 18, marking the event’s second consecutive year in Rajasthan’s capital. Manika competed against 48 contestants from across India. Tanya Sharma from Uttar Pradesh was declared the first runner-up, followed by Mehak Dhingra from Haryana and Amishi Kaushik as the second and third runners-up, respectively.

Currently living in Delhi, Manika is pursuing her final-year degree in political science and economics. She previously bagged the Miss Universe Rajasthan 2024 title and has balanced her studies with rigorous pageant preparation. Manika is more than simply a beauty queen. She’s also a talented classical dancer and visual artist. Her artistic work has received recognition from major organizations such as the Lalit Kala Academy and the JJ School of Arts. She also represented India in the BIMSTEC Sewocon, an event sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs.

Manika is a strong champion for mental health in addition to her artistic and academic accomplishments. She launched Neuronova, an effort that raises awareness about neurodivergent illnesses such as ADHD, intending to shift the narrative from “disorder” to “different ways of thinking.” During a recent interview, she reminisced on her journey saying, “It all started in Ganganagar. Moving to Delhi and preparing for this competition taught me resilience. Confidence and courage come from within, but it’s the support of people around you that shapes who you become.”

The event was organized by the Glamanand Group, with a judging panel that included designer Ashley Rebello, filmmaker Farhad Samji, Miss Universe India 2015 Urvashi Rautela, and Rajiv K. Shrivastava of the Act Now Organization. Manika’s journey is a mix of talent, determination, and purpose. These qualities make her a strong representative for India around the world.
