India (Commonwealth Union)_ Most people use credit cards to make regular purchases or pay bills, but Manish Dhameja sees them as much more. The Indian man currently holds the Guinness World Record for the most credit cards, with an astounding 1,638, all valid and operational as of April 30, 2021. However, this is more than just collecting cards for the sake of numbers. Manish strategically uses each one to maximize advantages, such as cashback, airline perks, hotel stays, and lounge access. Surprisingly, he has no debt, handling each card with meticulous preparation and financial discipline.

“I feel like my life wasn’t complete without credit cards,” he told Guinness World Records. “I enjoy complimentary travel, lounge access, hotel vouchers, flight tickets, shopping vouchers, golf sessions, and even spa treatments, all through milestone rewards, cashback, and air miles.” Manish’s credit cards even helped him during India’s 2016 demonetization, when Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes were suddenly withdrawn from circulation. As many rushed to withdraw cash, he continued spending digitally without interruption. “While others queued at banks, I was able to carry on as usual thanks to my credit cards,” he said.
