India (Commonwealth Union)_ A 100-year old grandma in Gujarat has gone viral on social media for a surprising reason. She is proving that age doesn’t stop one’s hard work. Accordingly, this grandma named Kaki has been selling tea outside Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) for over 40 years. Kaki’s story has gone viral on the internet due to her ability to still work at an age where most people would be retired. Her daily routine of grating fresh ginger and making aromatic chai for her customers has continued for many years. Many people passing by feel a connection to the smells of her freshly made chai and ginger tea because they were childhood memories for them.

While most individuals of her age would want to rest, Kashiba remains active and dedicated to her job. Her passion has struck a connection with hundreds of people on social media, who have complimented her strength and determination. Many have referred to her as a “real influencer,” not because of trends or popularity, but because she quietly lives a life based on discipline and self-reliance. The story has also brought back memories for old students who used to visit her tea shop. Many people mentioned how they had known her for years and recalled her strength and consistency.

One user wrote that they had been visiting her since the early 1990s and were amazed to see her still working with the same energy. Others remembered her as a constant presence during their college days, serving tea with warmth and care. Kashiba’s stall, located near the Fine Arts Faculty and close to the popular Kamati Baug area, has long been a gathering spot. Many who studied nearby say her tea and her enduring presence became part of their daily routine. Some also noted that she now works alongside her family, supporting her son and guiding younger generations while still helping with small tasks at the stall.

After the video went viral, many people were curious about the woman’s location and wanted to visit her and provide support. Many people called her a blessing and wished her well and a long life. Her story parallels those found throughout India, particularly the now-famous video of a 108-year-old vendor in Punjab who continued to work with a smile. These two examples of old people inspiring the societies through their purpose serve as an important reminder that they still have the drive to continue regardless of how old they are.
