A former Hampshire officer says that she was compelled to move into hiding after being erroneously linked online to the police response in the Henry Nowak case.

The former policewoman has criticized Hampshire Constabulary. The complaint is over alleged inaction after she was falsely identified as being one of the officers at the tragic scene where Henry Nowak lay dying in handcuffs.

Christi Hill, who had left the force 2 years back in April ’24, wasn’t a serving officer at the time of Henry Nowak’s killing by murderer Vikum Digwa, 6 months ago in December ’25. Hill has faced death threats and been branded a ‘murderer.’ She had her name & photograph circulated on social media since the trial.

Bodycam footage released during proceedings reflected the harrowing final moments of Henry Nowak’s life. Digwa stabbed him multiple times. The judge branded Digwa a ‘wicked liar’ for falsely accusing his victim of racism. Digwa was jailed for 21 years on Monday, 1 June ’26.

This case has been compared to the infamous George Floyd police killing in the U.S. that occurred 6 years ago in 2020. In that instance, the Floyd case sparked the Black Lives Matter movement. In this instance, footage reflects Nowak repeatedly telling officers he had been stabbed while struggling to breathe. However, the police appeared to treat Digwa as the victim. One officer was depicted as responding to Nowak’s pleas by even saying, “I don’t think you have, mate.”

As details of the case emerged, public anger over Nowak’s death has intensified. There were even calls for the officers involved to face justice. Thousands attended a protest outside Southampton Central Police Station on Tuesday, 2 June ’26. Demonstrators were witnessed chanting “We can’t breathe” & “Take the knee”. Several arrests had been made after the protest turned violent.

On Wednesday, 3 June, Hill, who served as a police constable for 11 years, participated in an interview with GB News presenter Ben Leo from an undisclosed safe house. Hill condemned the actions of her former employers. She added that Hampshire Constabulary had reflected a “clear lack of support.” Hill continues to remain in hiding from those she fears may wish to harm her.

Henry Nowak’s father, Mark, had made a statement earlier after Vikum Digwa was found guilty of the crime and expressed his sadness over the loss of his sons while showing his appreciation for those who helped his family during this extremely difficult time.

“We want to use Henry’s heartbreaking story to make change for the better. We do not want his death to be used to create further division, hatred, or tension. We want his story to make our streets safer for everyone” he said.
