EVA Air Targets New Delhi in a Bold Expansion That Could Transform India–North America Travel

EVA Air’s direct passenger service from Taipei to New Delhi will transform Asia’s aviation map as well as make travel from India to North America much easier by December 2026. This new route will connect one of Asia’s fastest-growing corridors while strengthening the connection between two cities with a giant demand from their populations for more international air travel.

Just days before the announcement, EVA Air celebrated another important milestone on June 26, 2026, when it launched nonstop flights between Taipei and Washington, D.C., its tenth North American city. That means they have continued growing their footprint in North America and are now expanding into India, recognising how much Indians want to be connected to the rest of the world.

EVA Air is currently working on the regulatory process to obtain the required approvals to start this service (which include regulatory authority approvals as well as airport slot allocations) with the goal of launching it in early December 2026, according to EVA Air president Sun Chia-ming. In addition to giving passengers from Taiwan and India direct access to each of their markets, EVA Air has established Taipei as a strategic airport hub for passengers travelling to/from major U.S. and Canadian cities.

The timing of this initiative is hardly random. India is a rapidly growing outbound travel market, driven by a significant increase in the number of people from various demographics who can now afford to travel internationally, thanks to ongoing economic growth and prosperity resulting from a higher percentage of individuals earning more money or gaining employment. Thousands of Indian students and other skilled professionals are immigrating each year to North America and are creating continuing demand for efficient “one-stop” connections.

Taipei offers EVA Air a unique advantage with its geographic location. Since it is located almost midway between South Asia and North America, Taiwanese airlines can offer several airlines and passengers competitive transit times while avoiding long flight detours. This offers travellers yet another premium alternative to connecting via traditional hubs, such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, and various airports in the Gulf.

Industry analysts are also viewing this move as a change in the industry’s focus on the Asian aviation market, as airlines begin to shift their attention to second-tier transit key locations to take advantage of the increasing number of passengers travelling between new emerging economies and North America. By making a New Delhi destination available to EVA Air, the airline would diversify its flight routes while helping to reinforce Taiwan’s place as a critical element of global air transportation.

The airline’s reputation is a further enhancement of the proposed airline service. EVA Air is recognised year after year as one of the world’s best airlines based on its high standards of service. In addition, their modern fleet consists of award-winning premium economy seats that EVA Air developed many years ago and have consistently developed since.

EVA Air also has a fantastic route network that covers the majority of Asia, Europe and North America and offers passengers seamless connections through the Star Alliance.

In addition to providing convenience for passengers, the proposed direct flights between New Delhi and Taipei may support the growth of tourism, trade, and investment between India and Taiwan. As the two countries deepen their commercial relationship through new air services, both businesses and pleasure customers can expect significant improvement in the travel experience.

Even though final approval is still outstanding, observers of the airline industry have indicated that this proposal reflects a logical extension of EVA Air’s international expansion strategy. Establishing EVA Air’s new New Delhi route will provide further reasons to offer this service. The recent expansion of the airline into North America combined with India’s increasing importance in the global aviation market strengthens the rationale behind implementing this service before the end of the year.

Should this route launch in December 2026 as anticipated, New Delhi will be yet another critical link in EVA Air’s rapidly growing worldwide footprint, connecting India with Taiwan and North America. Moreover, the EVA Air New Delhi Route will give customers a quicker and easier way to travel between two of the most vibrant regions of the world.
