Billy lives with his owners, Linka Lin and Mark Kelly, in Newry, County Down. The couple adopted him from the USPCA when he was just three months old. His heart-shaped nose marking inspired his lovable nickname, and what started as a simple pet account has now attracted thousands of football fans from around the world. Before each World Cup match, Linka places two miniature national flags on the floor. Billy is then asked which team will win. After a brief pause, he calmly reaches out with his paw and taps one of the flags. That choice becomes his prediction.

So far, Billy has correctly backed teams including Japan, Germany, Colombia, and Argentina. One of his latest successful predictions was Argentina’s victory over Austria, further boosting his reputation as football’s newest furry forecaster. The idea was never meant to become a global trend. Before the tournament, Billy appeared in lighthearted videos where he chose between everyday favorites such as Pepsi or Coke and rice or noodles. When Linka brought home a collection of miniature flags from an event around the start of the World Cup, they decided to try the same game with football teams. The videos quickly went viral.

They believe he communicates through different meows and body language, making it easy to understand whether he wants food, attention, or a walk outside. They also admit that, despite his impressive prediction record, Billy can still lose focus. On one occasion, a passing fly distracted him, bringing the prediction session to a complete halt.
