Wednesday, 29 July ’26 proved a quieter day for Team Malta in Glasgow. This was with competition across Athletics besides Lawn Bowls.

In the 200m event, Claire Azzopardi recorded 24.16s (+1.4m/s) to be placed 23rd amongst 35 event finishing competitors. This was just off her season’s best performance of 24.01s.

Alongside Azzopardi’s 100m performance 2 days before on Monday, 27 August, the results reflect the high standards she has sustained throughout the season. It also offers further encouragement as she develops towards future major championships.

Graham Pellegrini also competed in the 200m event. He clocked 21.20s (+2.4 m/s) to finish 31st out of 59 event finishers.

This performance cannot be recognised as an official seasonal best. This is due to the wind reading exceeding the permissible limit of +2.0m/s. however, it reflects his fastest performance of the season under all conditions. It also points towards a strong return to top-level competition, following shortly after a below-par ’25 season.
