Brexit negotiations to commence again

London, UK (CWBN)_ Following an hour long dialogue between Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Union Chief, Ursala Von Der Leyen, over the phone, yesterday, a joint statement was issued by the two parties, recognized the “significant differences” with regard to fishing rights, maintenance of a fair and competitive market, and the regulation of the agreement.

Von Der Leyen, later took to Twitter and stated that a trade deal between the two parties may not be “feasible” if negotiations fail to resolve the issue.

As such, she added that negotiation would recommence today, while Johnson and Von Der Leyen are due to converse about the issues on Monday.

Irish Prime Minister, Michael Martin, noted that the “agreement is in everyone’s best interests. Every effort should be made to reach a deal.”

With the Brexit deadline closing fast, it is near certain that UK has much more to lose in the affair, however, French fishermen have raised concerns of being unable to achieve current hauls, once access to British waters is revoked.

France’s European Foreign Minister, Clement Beaune, said that an agreement must be reached to provide “large and lasting” access, reiterating France’s perspectives from last week.
