Cape Town, South Africa (CWBN)_ It was announced that South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, is expected to address the national later tonight (14th Dec) with regard to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in the country, and the country’s preparedness for a possible second wave.

The presidential address was previously scheduled for Sunday (13th Dec) but was unexpectedly postponed.

The number of new Covid-19 cases in South Africa have grown exponentially since late November. About 8000 cases and roughly over 170 deaths were reported every day since the 10th of December. Hence strict restrictions have been set in place and new hot-spots have been identified.

It has been deemed likely the President would announce that several South African beaches will be closed down, which would likely be a deft blow to the local tourism industry, which is already under significant pressures.

Moreover, alcohol sales would also face similar restrictions in time for the holiday season, however, the measures would likely apply to areas deemed to be of high risk.
