Indian employee at Chicago airport crushed to death

       Chicago, USA (CWBN)_ Jijo George, an Indian man employed at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, died while at work after being crushed by airplane machinery. He is 36 years old and worked as a maintenance mechanic for Envoy air.

       The autopsy report was prepared by the Cook County medical examiner’s office and was released on Monday. The report says that the reason for Jijo George’s death is the multiple injuries caused due to the accident by a “aircraft drivable pushback apparatus” in a hangar at the airport.

       Mr George’s family lives in Chicago and the family includes George’s 8-month-pregnant wife, a child and his parents. George looked after his family. Mr George was a native of Pathanapuram in Kerala and later shifted to Chicago with his family. In an attempt to support George’s family by raising funds, an online fundraiser has been appointed.

       According to media reports, Mr. George’s parents, father Kunjumon and mother Mony, are also  residing in Chicago with him. Mr George was employed at Envoy Air as a maintenance mechanic and met with an aircraft machinery accident and died while working at a building near the airport. Chicago police said they were alerted to an unresponsive man who was found under the vehicle at around 2 pm at the airport.

       According to the report from Chicago Sun Times, Mr George was immediately taken to the Resurrection Medical Center, where despite the numerous attempts made by the doctors, Mr George died of multiple injuries at around 3:50 pm. The autopsy report said that his death was an accident.

       The accident is being inspected by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to ensure the workplace safety measures and has up to six months to issue citations for workplace safety.
