With great power come great responsibility. This is usually said when someone is appointed into a position of power may it be the CEO of a company, a principle of a school or a leader of a nation. These appointed people are then responsible for the decisions they make for the people.

This is exactly what Mallam Adamu Adamu has done since he became the Education Minister. He has approved the proposed site for the Federal Polytechnic Orogun, Ughelli North Council of Delta State and assured that academic activities being planned to commence in September 2022 will be achieved. Adamu, who announced the approval after inspecting the over 100 hectares site donated by the Orogun Community, said the ministry was satisfied with the site, as it met its requirements for siting an institution of higher learning.

Minister Adamu has been hands on with the project as Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Sonny Echono, said he inspected the site physically to ensure successful commencement of academic activities in September next year. Adamu went on to state that he was satisfied with what was on ground, particularly the peaceful process of acquiring the land, accessibility of the location, as well as proximity to public power supply and water.

He further quoted that “Our instruction is to coordinate and facilitate all arrangements towards the commencement of academic activities in the institution by September next year. We are pleased to note that the key issues we always look out for such as accessibility of land, possibility or proximity to power supply, water for development purposes, employees and students, potential for development and support for the communities that will constitute the larger catchment of the institution, have been met. So, we are pleased to note that the institution is central, close to Abraka and other major areas in the state. So, all is working together, particularly the assurances and support Omo-Agege has given to mobilize additional resources for the project. We are satisfied with the basic issues we look out for during the inspection.”
