There is a recent rise in cryptocurrency sponsorships in the motorsport world, but this week had a first: Landon Cassill will become the first NASCAR driver to actually be paid in cryptocurrency because of his sponsorship with Voyager.

Voyager is a cryptocurrency brokerage platform—or, fundamentally, a place to buy and sell crypto. And, if you’re still a little shaky on the details, cryptocurrency is essentially a digital form of payment.

Cassill has been keeping an eye on the cryptocurrency market for several years, which prompted his initial meeting with Voyager CEO Steve Ehrlich at a crypto conference two years ago.

Cassill said Voyager is paying “market rate” for the sponsorship but the funds will be distributed in crypto. He said the payment is a “portfolio of digital assets” that includes Litecoin and Bitcoin priced at market rates.

“I can trade it out right away before the market changes or hang on to it as the market goes up or goes down, carve out a little bit, pay my bills with it and hold the rest,” he said.

Voyager is accompany with a team of finance and technology industry veterans dedicated to empowering and servicing investors in the most exciting asset class to date, crypto. The founders of the company have combined their decades worth of experience from leading organisations like E*TRADE, Uber, TradeIt, Lightspeed Financial and more, to bring you Voyager.

The mission of the company is to provide every investor with a trusted and secure access point to crypto asset trading. According to the mission statement of the company, it offers best-in-class customer service, incomparable access to the most popular assets and commission-free trading.

The trend of developing crypto as a mainstream asset class will revolutionaise the business world by enhancing the speed as well as efficacy and safety of transactions.  This trend which is set in the UK is poised to be replicated in other nations in the Commonwealth.
