Hamilton vs Verstappen: what does Briton Predict?

It’s not a lie to say that this Dutch driver has taken the world of formula driving by storm as he has managed to get the lead on drivers’ standings by 12 point after he claimed the win at the French Grand Prix which Mercedes has dominated since the year 2018.

This was in fact a sign that the tables had turned in the sport of formula 1 driving and the fans were here for it. But it was Lewis Hamilton who was showing concerns about how Mercedes will maintain their status as the top dog in the port which they have been since the year 2014. As the chequred flag was waved and red bull took the wing Mercedes has gone back their drawing board to see where they have to improve.

Hamilton quoted those guys are just too quick now. They have taken a big step this weekend. We are losing three-and-a-half tenths just on the straights, so I think they have made some sort of improvement. We’ve got to figure out whether it’s just rear wing or engine. Either way, we’ve got to improve. If he hadn’t made a mistake in the beginning, the result would have been the same. We are quite slow in a straight line.”

He was not wrong Verstappen did make a mistake early on in the opening lap that gave Hamilton the chance to overtake him and take the lead. But this lead was short lived as Verstappen made a remarkable comeback and brought in the win for Red Bull. Hamilton took the loss and quoted that “It’s not gut-wrenching at all, I think we did a great job, it just didn’t work out. I’m not massively disappointed, I think I did the best job I could and of course there are things we could probably have done slightly better. Overall, they’ve been quicker than us all weekend, so it’s a true reflection of the pace they have.”
