Ontario, Canada (CU)_ Chubb, the global provider of insurance products, has established an aviation hub in Canada to expand its domestic general aviation and non-major aerospace insurance. Canada’s Chubb Insurance Company runs offices in Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, and Vancouver, and offers its products and services through registered insurance brokers all over the country. Chubb’s clients include major multinational companies and small businesses, as well as individuals and insurers looking for reinsurance coverage.
The Canadian Aviation hub is an effort of Chubb Global Markets’ (CGM) new regional focus for the aviation team, which includes Chubb’s London market wholesale and specialist arm, as well as the company’s Lloyd’s platform. CGM provides customized solutions across the risk spectrum in collaboration with brokers and clients.
Arthur Meerdink, who has been named practice leader of Aviation, Canada, will manage the hub. Under his new designation, Meerdink will be in charge of creating and expanding CGM’s aviation company in Canada. Meerdink has over a decade of expertise in the insurance sector and has held various senior positions in the Canadian aviation and aerospace industries. According to his LinkedIn profile, his latest job was a senior underwriter at American International Group. Previously, he served as the assistant vice president, new business development lead, for 13 years at Global Aerospace.
Meerdink will directly report to Nigel Griffiths, Chubb Global Markets’ regional head of General Aviation, as well as Steven Lucas, Canada Region’s chief accounts sector leader. He will work in Toronto. Lucas said, “This new hub means we can now harness the established global expertise of the CGM team to expand the risks we underwrite locally for our major accounts clients”.
