Biotechnology firm manufactures African Swine Fever test kits

Ontario, Canada (CU)_ Manila HealthTek, Inc. (MTek) announced the development of a test kit to identify African Swine Fever (ASF), which is presently limiting pork supplies due to high animal mortality in the hog business. According to MTek, the product which has been verified by a national reference animal-testing laboratory is a molecular-based testing tool for ASF. The ASF test kit was determined to be 100 percent sensitive and specific during the validation process. The kit now awaits the approval of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
