Elaine Thompson-Herah’s journey to becoming the fastest woman alive

(CU)_Born in the Parish of Manchester in west-central Jamaica, during her early days Elaine Thompson-Herah was a good athlete, but not an outstanding one. Her highest achievement at the time was placing fourth in Class Two 100 metres at the Jamaican ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships in 2009.

“I didn’t win much when I was smaller, I wasn’t going to international competitions, but I stood by the sport because the love I have for it,” she said. “The love takes me to higher places. I wasn’t the champion in high school, other girls were faster than me. But I’m competitive, hardworking and motivated because of where I’m coming from.”
