Joanne Mercer’s return to manufacturing business

MELBOURNE (CU)_Joanne Mercer is a prominent name in Australia’s shoe manufacturing industry, as the creator of the eponymous shoe range Jo Mercer. Following her resignation from the company over a decade ago, the Melbourne-based Entrepreneur joined Myer, one of Australia’s largest department store groups, as Category Manager and later as General Manager Footwear Handbags and Accessories, a role from which she quit last year. Mercer has now decided to return to the manufacturing industry, with her newest venture, Matilda Life.

Founded by Mercer and her fellow respected retailer Lauren Mastromanno, Matilda Life is a high-quality lifestyle brand which aims to support Australian communities, as they rebuild their economy following the pandemic. Mercer is a major advocate for Australian manufacturing and keeping skills local, as she believes locally manufactured quality products will be well-received, even with a slight increase in prices.
