Ontario, Canada (CU)_ Aviva Canada, in collaboration with global car and driving data company IMS, has introduced a new solution that will provide drivers with discounts on their auto insurance premiums while also enhancing their safety. The new Aviva Journey app-based telematics technology will provide safe drivers with substantial insurance discounts. The software is available for smartphone download, and consumers who register are instantly eligible for a ten percent discount on their existing vehicle insurance. IMS technology is essential for the operation of Aviva Journey.

David Lukens, senior vice president for North America sales at IMS, expressed optimism over the partnership. He said, “Our IMS One App mobile telematics technology enables Aviva Canada to collect data insights as well as deliver meaningful engagement with their policyholders using the Aviva Journey app”. He added, “The app collects extraordinarily rich data to help Aviva truly understand how customers are driving, and to link safe driving to financial rewards.” Lukens stated that the cost reductions associated with telematics might assist drivers in combating inflation.

Phil Gibson, EVP and managing director of Aviva Canada, expressed confidence over the collaboration. He said, “The spirit of collaboration between Aviva and IMS leading up to the launch was strong. This has resulted in a really sensational and engaging mobile app-based product, which has been well-received by our broker partners and customers”. According to Gibson, during the development and testing phase of Aviva Journey, the insurer was able to address feedback it got from brokers and early users. Aviva and IMS also upgraded the app in an effort to create an exceptional customer experience.

Lukens said, “App-based telematics has evolved into a truly engaging customer experience, thanks to rapid developments in mobile telematics capabilities since 2020”. He added, “Personalized premiums based on behavioral data is at a tipping point for mass adoption in North America and abroad, and we are proud to be at the forefront of the movement.” Currently, brokers in Ontario distribute Aviva Journey, and interested parties can visit the insurer’s website for further details.
