London, United Kingdom (CU)_ Howden-based Aston Lark has announced its purchase of Tilbury-based AJ Insurance Service in Essex. Albert and John Wyatt, father and son, founded AJ Insurance in 1979. The father-son duo are proud to have kept many of their early clients and long-serving staff members still at work.

Originally specializing in personal lines, AJ Insurance currently focuses mainly on commercial lines, including construction, motor fleet and motor commerce, and property. In addition, it continues to offer home and auto insurance, with a special focus on drivers above the age of 80 and those who need lengthy foreign use.

John Kemp, managing director at AJ Insurance, expressed optimism over the acquisition. He said, “Our clients are our primary consideration. To move our business forward, we therefore looked for a partner who not only has the resources to help us grow, but who also shares our values. When considering who to partner with, it was very important to us that we found a like-minded broking firm with a first-rate reputation for commitment to clients, and one that was well respected within the insurance industry. Aston Lark felt like a perfect fit for us, our team, and our clients.”

According to Peter Blanc, the chief executive officer of Aston Lark Group, he was introduced to Kemp by a mutual contact who felt Aston Lark and AJ Insurance would make a perfect fit. Blanc said, “As soon as I met John, it was clear that AJ Insurance and Aston Lark have an identical customer service ethos. I’m delighted that John and the team have decided to join the Aston Lark and Howden family, and I’m certain that the business will grow and thrive over the coming years.”
