The India – Pakistan Thriller!

Melbourne (Commonwealth Union)_Virat Kohli single-handedly led the team to victory, and the world of cricketing will never get over this historic win, and the comeback of the legend! The India – Pakistan match in the T20 world cup tournament was probably one of the best matches we’ve witnessed ever.

Pakistan batted the first innings finishing in 159 for 8, after an unsteady start giving a reasonable amount of runs for India to chase. Whilst India had a nightmarish start to the second innings with wickets falling at the drop of a hat, Kohli powered through with a magnificent 53 ball 82 not out, completing the chase in the last ball, with much needed support extended from Hardik Pandya who scored 40 runs.

The duo revived India from their dormant stage in the game where the team was clearly struggling at 31/4. Pakistan was well served by Ifthikar’s 34 ball half century and Shan Masood’s unmatched 52 off 42 balls after losing their first two wickets in the fourth over with just 15 runs in the bag.

While Pakistan displayed a fantastic bowling attack in the second innings, the last over is where they crumbled. With Nawaz on the bowling side, India needed 12 runs off the last over to win, until Kohli scored a no ball six, until Nawaz bowled a wide, until the nail-biting situation arrived a 1 ball 1 run to win closure for India. Kohli swiftly hit the winning run completing the chase for India and making it a historic win.

It is with immense confidence, I say that those who missed out, missed out on a brilliant game of cricket. Whilst India – Pakistan is always a worldwide anticipation, this match was off the roof. The Melbourne Cricket Ground, crowded with over 90,000 people in the audience, went mad cheering their heads off! What an atmosphere it was and what a tournament it has been so far.
