Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_We are probably super late to the party, but we are still unable to get over India’s spectacular win at the finals of the Women’s Asia Cup at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

India won by 8 wickets with 69 balls remaining, achieving an outstanding 66-run target in 8.3 overs! Smriti Mandhana, who achieved her half century, which was her first in the tournament, along with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur who completed the 66-run chase in the ninth over made it a fascinating match to watch.

Even though India had been dominating from the start, and there was no surprise element or unprecedented nervous breakdowns as the match took unpredictable turns, it was one of the most amazing games of cricket to watch as India put on an effortlessly brilliant show in their chase to victory.

Whilst Sri Lanka did put on a commendable effort throughout the tournament, their 65 for 9 is the lowest total recorded by a side batting first. India chased this down with 69 balls to spare, making for another record of fastest chase in women’s T20i. Guess it just wasn’t the day for Sri Lanka during the finals.

The stadium was filled with over 10,000 excited fans who were there to watch some exciting action in the final, however by the time the crowd settled India had reduced Sri Lanka to 9 for 4 in the fourth over.

The player of the match was Renuka Singh whilst Deepti Sharma wore the crown of player of the series as a result of her brilliant batting display throughout the tournament. There was much excitement in the air as Harmanpreet Kaur accepted the winning trophy, and the winning smiles of all Indian players lit the atmosphere with happiness, sealing a very well-deserved win on a happy note.
