(Commonwealth Union)_After India’s spectacular win against Pakistan, there was a lot of excited anticipation for this match and the team did not disappoint! Getting another win in the bag, India won by 56 runs, after Netherlands fail to succeed in their chase.

India won the toss and decided to bat first, with Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and of course Virat Kohli each scoring their own half century before finishing the spectacular innings with 179 runs scored. Netherlands bowled reasonably well, however the brilliant batting order by India powered through.

Skipper Rohit Sharma said that the pressure was intense because they were expected to win, and while this was a near-perfect victory, he wasn’t entirely happy with the way he batted – said it was good enough to get some runs under his belt and not the perfect knock.

During the second innings India displayed some excellent bowling, with Arshdeep, Shami and Bhuvneshwar leading the team to victory. It was a clinical defence and we got to see new tricks up Arshdeep’s sleeve, the new-ball swing being one and the bouncer which pleasantly shocked us.

Suryakumar Yadav was crowned Man of the Match for his beautiful 51 off 25 balls. He later said that he wanted to express himself and that he enjoyed batting with Virat Kohli.

This match has now led India to the top of group 2, increasing the excitement as the tournament proceeds.
