England (Commonwealth Union) _ Five tastefully completed Actros L tractors have been delivered to Platts Transport by eStar Truck & Van, a subsidiary of the Platts Group, one of the industry leaders in the UK animal bedding and cubicle conditioner sector. The Mercedes-Benz vehicles were added to the company’s fleet after testing demonstration units revealed remarkable fuel efficiency.

“We were seeking for more fuel-efficient cars to help us achieve our sustainability and environmental goals, and the Actros Ls are definitely delivering on that promise. Given the rural nature of many of our routes, we’re seeing average returns of 10 mpg, which is excellent and puts the Mercedes-Benz in the lead among the trucks we’ve tried in terms of efficiency,” said managing director Chris Whittaker.

Each Actros Ls 2545 model has a flat-floored BigSpace cab and a 12.8 litre in-line six-cylinder engine. Actros L creates new benchmarks for heavy-duty distribution and long-distance hauling. It has a variety of innovations that further enhance efficiency, safety, and comfort in addition to a complete complement of tried-and-true Mercedes-Benz technology. A few standout features include advanced aerodynamics, quieter cabs with better heat insulation, and a lower, more comfortable seating position that also improves visibility.

“As far as the drivers are concerned, everything is OK. The climate-controlled cabins are roomy and comfortable, and the advanced driver assistance systems serve to lessen some of the stress associated with what can be a challenging profession. It’s just a plus that our new Mercedes-Benz trucks look terrific, too,” Whittaker continued.

The Platts Group, which also includes Platts Agriculture and Platts Commercial Services, includes Platts Transport. After years of operating its own truck fleet, the Group established Platts Transport as a standalone business in the spring of 2020 to provide logistics support to other businesses during the initial COVID lockdown and protect employees’ jobs.
