The proposal received comments from about four hundred people, many of whom expressed concern about an increase in HGV movements. According to the business, “it had decided to focus all of our efforts on restarting tungsten and tin mining. We are not willing to sacrifice the connections we are attempting to forge with the local and larger community in order to grow a secondary aggregates business”, according to executive vice chair Mark Thompson.
As per the proposal, which was submitted in June, stated, it was intended to increase the site’s daily HGV export capacity from 50 to a maximum of 200. According to Tungsten West, the development represented a £2.3 million investment in Devon. “We will stop selling secondary aggregates in the near future,” Thompson said. “Once manufacturing is underway, we’ll try to work within the 50 HGV movement limitations per day outlined in our current planning approval as our first stance,” he further noted.
When the Hemerdon Mine is fully operational, the firm aims to employ 200 to 250 employees there. He promised that the company will try to take everyone’s comments into account. Hemerdon Mine is home to the third-largest tungsten deposit in the world, which is used in the production of goods as well as the military, electronics, vehicles, and medical equipment.
