Singapore_ (Commonwealth Union) _ According to the government, leading pharmaceutical companies and research communities from top institutions in the Lion City have joined forces to create a partnership that will aid in the development of research and innovation in biomanufacturing.
A*STAR, with the support of the Economic Development Board, launched the Biologics Pharma Innovation Programme Singapore collaboration in a joint announcement. The group comprises GSK, Sanofi, Takeda, the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and its innovation and business firm, NTUitive, and the Singapore Institute of Technology. The collaboration aims to increase Singapore’s biologics production capacity, which includes recombinant therapeutic proteins and vaccines. Aside from new technology, the collaboration will increase production efficiency and environmental measures.
BioPIPS will have three workstreams to accomplish this: The Sensing and Modeling workstream intends to leverage machine learning and modeling. clever sensors and mechanistic modeling technology that enable processes that are simpler and quicker Data analytics will make effective translation possible obtained process insights into performance enhancements, which helps the manufacturing process as a whole.
The Sustainability workstream is concerned with addressing sustainability issues in Manufacturing of biologics and vaccines, which often use single-use containers due to the necessity for an exceedingly sterile environment, (disposable) equipment the product’s purity This workstream will investigate the usage of innovative materials and circular systems. Ways to the economy to solve this dilemma, as well as strategies to encourage more robust and sustainable supply chains
The Compliant Agility workstream focuses on automating manual operations achieving higher productivity in manufacturing plants while preserving quality by utilizing technologies like as robots and sophisticated analytics, compliance status may be improved.
To boost industrial productivity, operational efficiency, and sustainability, the consortium will bring together renowned industry professionals and Singapore’s research environment. The consortium’s ultimate goal is to elevate Singapore’s biologics manufacturing capabilities to best-in-class status, allowing for the introduction of new products and novel production methods.
