AFRICA ( Commonwealth Union) _ The next gubernatorial and state assembly elections would be successfully held thanks to a strong security arrangement put in place, according to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Following the review, analysis, and processing of reports and observations from the field on the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on the 28th of February, 2023, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) management stated that a robust security arrangement has been put in place in preparation for the success of the upcoming governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) workers, electoral materials, and voters will all be protected during the elections, he said, noting that the tighter security strategy. In an address to personnel preparing for deployment to states for the Governorship and State Assembly elections, Dr. Ahmed Audi, the NSCDC Commandant General, according to Odumosu, said that in order to prevent interference with the voting process, personnel needed to be deployed to both previously known and newly discovered flashpoints.

In his territories where utility vandalism was a common occurrence, the NSCDC commandant general instructed his men to safeguard the preservation of crucial national infrastructure and assets. The CG declared that the 102,000 officers and soldiers who had already been deployed and who had received the necessary training in regimentation, crowd control, arm bearing, and election management methods would ensure that the election would be completely secure.

He gave everyone the reassurance that the Corps would keep working with the general population to gather reliable intelligence to stop criminal activity before, during, and after the election. All employees assigned to election duties were tasked by Audi with adhering to the ground rules and familiarizing themselves with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), code of ethics, and the electoral law as revised.

Audi emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration with the police and other security organizations engaged in election security tasks, recommending them to avoid needless conflict but to maturely resolve any misunderstandings that may arise.

He issued a warning to troublemakers who might aim to use violence, telling them to learn from the recent presidential and national assembly elections, in which many political thugs died while stealing ballot boxes and committing other electoral crimes.

He further warned employees to behave appropriately and perform well during the elections because anyone found wanting will not be spared. He also urged those still waiting to receive the second installment of the election allowance to practice patience because network issues are seriously hampering the majority of financial transactions.
