Europe UK (Commonwealth Union) – The UK and the Netherlands are set to build the largest cross border power line. The LionLink power line between both countries is set to provide sufficient electricity capable of powering more homes than Manchester and Birmingham combined according to the British government.
This mammoth multi-use electricity power line is set to be formed below the North Sea, that will enhance British energy supplies that are sufficient for the power requirements of 1.8 million homes that is more than Birmingham as well as Manchester together.
As the world moves further in favor of renewable energy, wind power and solar power have been in the spotlight.
The cross-border electricity line has been described as just the 2nd of its kind across the globe, where the 1st was produced by Germany and Denmark. This however, has a capability of transferring over 4 times the quantity of electricity as its forerunner, that makes it the largest across the globe with higher capacity.
The UK government is putting out the innovative project between the UK as well as the Netherlands as Energy Security Secretary Grant Shapps led a delegation for British business to the North Sea Summit in Belgium yesterday, with the hopes of enhancing collective energy security via new renewable energy together with interconnector projects.
This was a component of the attempts of the UK government to engage with business to enhance the economy. This was one of PM Sunak’s one top 5 priorities. The enhancement of clean energy was indicated to just assist in the formation of better jobs across the UK but also enhance economic security by lowering dependance on foreign gas supplies.
“This new connection further boosts energy security and energy independence in Europe. Close collaboration on offshore wind energy and interconnection amongst the North Sea countries is imperative,” said Minister Rob Jetten, Climate & Energy for the Netherlands.
