Free National day Concert at Gardens by the Bay

Homegrown Kit Chan, Mavis Hee and more singers are lined up to perform free at the Mediacorp National Day Concert on August 5th and the National day concert at Gardens by the Bay.  This will be the first time since 2019 that the event will be taking place at The Meadow a 22,000 sq. m venue that is the size of three football fields located in Gardens by the Bay and will be the fifth edition of the concert series.

The audiences will be serenaded by Chan, with Home, her popular National Day Parade (NDP) anthem of 1998 while Hee is set to perform stirring ballads including Moonlight in the City, the theme song of the local 1996 Chinese language drama Tofu Street, and the classic Moon River.  The Show will also feature singers Joanna Dong and Shak’thiya Subramaniam who both sang on the 2018 edition We Are Singapore, the NDP song.

Veteran artistes Ann Hussein and Clement Chow are also part of the line up along with actor singers Jaynesh Isuran and Ayden Sng singing duo The Freshman, singer host Suithasini Rajendran, Vocal groups MICappella, contestants from Mediacorp’s Malay reality singing competition Juara Mic Junior and Vocaluptuous and Voices of Singapore.  Radio Deejay Vernetta Lopez and actor host singer Fauzie Laily will host the concert, pairing up with singer-songwriter Umar Sirhan on a mash up of chart-topping pop tracks. 

There will also be free food and a carnival, including special flavours of ice cream concocted by contestants from the fourth season of the local reality cooking series MasterChef Singapore.

Chief Executive of Gardens by the Bay, Mr. Felix Loh said that this year’s edition was a special one as they were finally able to have a full-scale concert without the restraints of the pandemic.   This is the first time; they will be staging a crowd favourite- fireworks- to celebrate the return to their original venue at The Meadow.
