Europe UK (Commonwealth Union) – A renowned games company from the United States, specializing in the industry and with established offices in New York and Texas, is on the verge of establishing its European headquarters in Wales, due to the unwavering support of the Welsh Government. Deputy Minister for Arts, Sport, and Tourism, Dawn Bowden, revealed this significant development.

The company in question, Rocket Science, is gearing up to launch its latest studio in Cardiff. This endeavor is poised to create an impressive count of 50 high-paying and expert-level positions, catering to a pool of adept graduates and professionals from the games industry. These individuals will be directly involved in tackling some of the most intricate technical challenges posed by the world’s most prominent video game projects.

This venture, characterized by inward investment, was solidified subsequent to a triumphant trade mission led by the Welsh Government to the Game Developers Conference held in San Francisco in 2022. It was during this event that Rocket Science’s co-founder, Tom Daniel, hailing from Bridgend originally but now rooted in Austin, Texas, along with Brian Corrigan, established a connection with Creative Wales—the creative agency under the Welsh Government. Together, they delved into discussions surrounding the ambitious growth plans harbored by Rocket Science.

As part of its expansive strategy, Rocket Science aims to create a foothold in Wales that mirrors its already flourishing operations in New York. The establishment of the Welsh studio is strategically positioned to provide unwavering support to the company’s European clientele, an endeavor that aligns seamlessly with its commitment to global innovation and success.

“Living in the United States, but being from Wales myself, it makes me extremely proud to be opening this studio back home. I hope that we can play our part in enticing many more international games companies to come join us here in Cardiff in the not-too-distant future and make Cardiff the next great UK gaming hub, which I believe it can be,” said Tom Daniel, Co-Founder and Co-CEO from Rocket Science.
