Diaspora (Commonwealth Union) _ The All Progressives Congress Committee of Diaspora Chairmen (APC-CDC) has refuted claims of a strained relationship between the diaspora leadership and the APC National headquarters, asserting its commitment to fostering unity and collaboration.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Lagos, Chief Elias Abone, the Public Relations Officer of APC-CDC and Chairman of APC Canada, debunked speculations of discord, affirming the dedication of the Tunde Doherty-led APC-CDC to strengthening ties with the national leadership.

Abone emphasized the unity and integrity prevailing within the party’s leadership, categorically stating, “Let it be unequivocally stated: there exists no frosty relationship between the CDC-APC and the APC headquarters.”

He commended the National Working Committees for their diligence in promoting peace, reconciliation, and impartiality in conducting fair elections for all members.

Addressing concerns regarding the recent discourse surrounding the UK Congress, Abone reiterated that all proceedings were conducted transparently and in adherence to due process, with notifications issued to all members without bias towards any faction.

He highlighted the unanimous agreement among interim committee members, including the chairman and secretary, regarding the election date scheduled for April 2024.

Abone underscored the legitimacy of Tunde Doherty as the APC CDC chairman, elected through a transparent and equitable process, and affirmed the full ratification and approval of the CDC executives under Doherty’s leadership by the National Working Committee.

In a cautionary note directed at Prof. Adesegun Labinjo, the Chairman of APC-USA, Abone urged him to refrain from assuming the role of APC-CDC chairman, urging the public to disregard any statements or actions attributed to Labinjo.

He reiterated the party’s unwavering commitment to transparency, fairness, and unity, emphasizing the diaspora leadership’s readiness to support peaceful and transparent elections in the UK.

Abone called for collective responsibility in rejecting discord within the diaspora chapters and emphasized the imperative of working towards the collective good of the party and the nation.

“With this decisive rebuttal, the APC leadership stands united, resolute in their dedication to upholding democratic principles and fostering harmony within the party,” he concluded.
