India (Commonwealth Union)_ An export order for a 155mm artillery platform worth USD 155 million was obtained by leading defense manufacturer Bharat Forge’s subsidiary Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd. The company claimed that the order is for a “non-conflict zone” and that it is a “great testament” to the government’s “Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India) agenda without revealing the identity of the customer. A 155mm artillery platform export order has been granted, Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd, a company wholly owned subsidiary, according to a statement from Bharat Forge.

“The order is worth $155.50 million in total. This order is a great testament to the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat agenda of the Indian government and its ongoing efforts to promote the export of advanced defense platforms that are indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured (IDDM) in India,” the firm claimed. The defense ministry has set a target of $25 billion (Rs 1.75 lakh crore) in defense manufacturing revenue over the next five years, with a $5 billion (Rs 35,000 crore) military hardware export target included. The government has undertaken several initiatives to encourage domestic defense production over the past few years.

Bharat Forge has experience in the design, development, engineering, and manufacturing of systems and subsystems for a variety of weapons systems, including small arms, armored fighting vehicles, protected vehicles, ammunition, and armored fighting vehicles. Bharat Forge Ltd and American technology giant General Atomics signed a collaboration agreement last month to work on developing lithium-ion battery systems for the Indian Navy. Kalyani is one of the biggest investors in the defense industry and has been providing both India and other countries with a variety of weapon systems. The business and the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) have been collaborating to develop an advanced tower artillery gun system (ATAGS) and an ultra-light howitzer.
