A guide to have a pet mouse

(Commonwealth Union)_ Mice amuse the pets in the house because they don’t make many demands, they are simple to maintain. While they are still young, you may easily teach them how to handle food and be disciplined. However, there are a few things you should be aware of when picking a pet mouse.

Before taking pet mice home, there are several things to think about.

Housing: Mice require cages because they live in small groups. The male mice must be kept apart because they need their own space when being housed. Males with unfamiliar backgrounds often engage in conflict.

Housing for pet mice should be a wire cage with a plastic tray floor. Urine can absorb into wood floors, making them foul. To stop mice from escaping and from hurting their feet, choose a sturdy, secure floor. A cage with a wire mesh floor should not be used.

A cage that is 60 centimeters long, 50 centimeters wide, and 30 centimeters height is required for two mice. The mice will have more room to stand upright thanks to the height.

Before getting your new pets, you should “mouse-proof” your home. Windows should always be kept closed to prevent mice from escaping. Keep any fragile items out of your home where mice could knock them over. If you let your mice explore the house, keep an eye on your kids at all times to prevent accidents.

Medical care: Ask your veterinarian any questions you may have prior to getting pet mice. You should keep an eye out for any obesity, tumors, overgrown teeth, or respiratory problems in your mice. They might require rabies and other disease immunizations. The need for spaying or neutering your mouse can also be determined by your veterinarian.

Supplies: Make sure you have a few necessary materials and supplies before your mice arrive home. They include enclosure, clutter bin, safe mouse transporter, water and food dishes drip bottles, exercise wheel bed and hidey-hole.
