London, United Kingdom (Commonwealth Union)_Premier League Club Manchester United’s players will continue to be decked in Adidas kits for the next ten years. A 900 million pound deal, equivalent to USD 1.1 billion was signed to renew the English soccer club’s partnership with official kit supplier Adidas for another decade. German sportswear giant Adidas has been Manchester United’s official kit sponsor from the 2015/16 season taking over from Nike in a record 750 million deal.
Manchester United, under team manager Erik ten Hag, has been considering returning to the lucrative UEFA Champions League this year, given that it gained a top-four finish in the domestic league last season. This new deal will continue until June 2035 from the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season next month.
The 20-times English soccer champions increased the forecast of its annual profit and revenue. According to the earlier agreement with Adidas, the club must participate in the Champions League to benefit from the annual payment. If the Club fails to paly in the Chapions League for more than two consecutive seasons, Adidas was deemed to reduce its payments by 30 percent of the annual fee.
The Glazer family who are the US owners of Manchester United have been discussing selling the Premier League Club. The official sales process began last year.
