USA (Commonwealth Union)_ Hirsh Vardhan Singh, a 38-year-old Indian-American engineer, has declared his candidacy for the highest office in the United States, setting his sights on the White House in the 2024 US presidential election. He now joins the ranks of Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy as the third individual of Indian descent to join the crowded field of Republican contenders vying for the party’s nomination.

Mr. Singh took to Twitter and shared a 3-minute video message, affirming his unwavering commitment to the Republican Party and describing himself as an “America First” conservative. He expressed his dedication to restoring the conservative wing of the New Jersey Republican Party, emphasizing the urgent need for strong leadership to reverse the changes that have unfolded in recent years and to uphold core American values. Mr. Singh formally submitted his candidacy to the Federal Election Commission, aiming to secure the Republican Party’s nomination for the presidency.

Notably, he is up against notable figures like former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, 51, and millionaire entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, 37, both of whom have already announced their bid for the Republican Party’s nomination earlier in the year. Additionally, former US President Donald Trump is also in the race, despite facing legal challenges. The Republican National Convention is scheduled to convene in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 15-18, 2024, where the party will formally select its presidential nominee.

Mr. Singh distinguished himself as the “only pureblood candidate” due to his staunch refusal to comply with COVID vaccinations, a stance that sets him apart from other contenders. He has previously run in Republican primaries for various positions, including governor of New Jersey in 2017 and 2021, a House seat in 2018, and a Senate seat in 2020. However, these attempts were met with limited success, as he failed to secure the Republican Party’s nomination in those instances.

During his most recent run for governor, Mr. Singh positioned himself as a conservative alternative aligned closely with former President Trump, but ultimately he secured the third spot in the nomination race, with Jack Ciattarelli becoming the party’s chosen candidate. Mr. Singh currently faces an uphill battle as one of several long-shot candidates in the Republican field, alongside other contenders like former Cranston, Rhode Island, Mayor Steve Laffey, Michigan businessman Perry Johnson, and Texas pastor Ryan Binkley. Their aspirations to secure the nomination present a diverse and competitive landscape as the nation looks ahead to the 2024 election.
