Mr Eric Amaning Okoree, the NBA’s Chief Executive Officer, stated at the session that the campaign’s objective was to educate officers about the new breakthroughs in that sector and the regulatory measures being implemented by the government to mitigate its influence on the environment and human health. He stated that it is critical for agricultural officers to know the regulatory procedures and methods outlined in the legislation, as well as how it is implemented.

Mr Okoree indicated that genetically modified organisms do not enter the public domain without rigorous control, emphasizing that any GMO that bears the seal of the regulatory authority involved in the regulatory chain does not cause any harm. He continued by stating that since 1996, GMOs have been controlled in the country and have not been linked to any sickness elsewhere in the globe.

According to the CEO, GMOs that pass via biosafety authorities have also gotten regulatory approval from agencies and are safe to consume. Participants came from several departments within the Ministry of Agriculture, including the crops directorate, the extension directorate, the veterinary services directorate, and women in agriculture.
