Aviation and Airlines (Commonwealth Union) _ After a hiatus of three years due to the pandemic, Dreams Take Flight Canada, a charity organization, has resumed its program in collaboration with Air Canada. The organization, established in 1989, aims to bring deserving children to Walt Disney World or Disneyland. The flights are often sponsored by Air Canada, and the program was temporarily suspended due to the pandemic. On October 18th, Air Canada and Dreams Take Flight teamed up to take nearly 120 deserving children from the lower mainland of Vancouver to California, marking the fifth flight in this year’s program.
The Airbus A321-200, operating as Air Canada flight AC 7181, departed from Vancouver International Airport with 119 children from various organizations. The children, accompanied by an enthusiastic crew of current and former Air Canada employee volunteers, experienced a magical journey. Dreams Take Flight Vancouver’s President, Melissa Hance, expressed gratitude to the Air Canada Foundation, volunteers, employees, and sponsors for making the day special for these children.
The Dreams Take Flight program, which brings children to magical theme parks, had to cancel plans and postpone trips due to the pandemic. The return of the program brought anticipation and joy to the children, and this year’s flights include destinations like Florida and California. The initiative involves dedicated efforts from everyone involved to ensure the children go home with cherished memories.
Air Canada Foundation’s spokesperson, Valeria Durand, confirmed that three more flights from across Canada are planned for this year. The dedication of everyone involved in making these trips happen reflects a commitment to bringing joy and creating lasting memories for deserving children.
The resumption of Dreams Take Flight is a heartwarming initiative that showcases the positive impact airlines can have on their communities, especially during challenging times. Initiatives like Dreams Take Flight and similar programs by other airlines contribute to making a difference in the lives of children facing various challenges.
