Queen Camilla pays…

-

United Kingdom (Commonwealth Union)_ Queen Camilla paid tribute to her late mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth by wearing a tiara long thought to be Her late Majesty’s favourite, for glittering reception with King Charles.

King Charles and Queen Camilla stepped into the limelight on Wednesday evening to attend a glittering reception and dinner hosted in honour of their coronation where Her Majesty embodied timeless glamour for a poignant coronation event.   The Queen accompanied King Charles to Mansion House in the City of London, where the monarch took part in a ceremony steeped in history and dined with business leaders.

The dinner was held to recognise the work of the civic institutions and Livery Companies of the City of London, the city’s ancient and modern trade guilds. The poignant occasion was King Charles’ first official visit to the City of London since becoming the new monarch.

Queen Camilla was impeccably dressed in a shimmering black Bruce Oldfield gown with silver embroidery, to join her husband, the King at the event, and her jewellery paid brilliant tribute to her late mother-in-law.

As she arrived at Mansion House this evening where King Charles took part in the Presentation of the Pearl Sword, Her Majesty cut an elegant silhouette while enhancing her beautiful look with the late Queen Elizabeth II’s tiara, the girls of Great Britain and Northern Ireland diamond tiara, with a diamond necklace and earrings that also belonged to the late monarch, for the first time since the demise of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.

The royal’s icy blonde hair was swept into its usual bouffant blowout, epitomising classic beauty, as Camilla highlighted her features with an illuminating foundation, rosy blush and soft pink lipstick.

The stunning diadem was first gifted to Princess Victoria Mary of Teck to mark her wedding to George V in 1893.

Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, was known to be incredibly fond of the headpiece, and affectionately called it ‘Granny’s Tiara’.

She wore the diadem not long after she ascended the throne, during one of her first public appearances following the funeral of her father George VI.   It takes its name from the committee of women who raised money to create it.  Made of diamonds set in silver and gold, the diadem was topped by 14 pearls but they were replaced with 13 brilliant-cut diamonds .

The tiara was passed down to Queen Camilla by her late mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth and is thought to have been the monarch’s favourite diadem, as she was often seen wearing it, and is also pictured wearing it on some bank notes.
