India (Commonwealth Union)_ Air India has made an exciting announcement regarding the commencement of a non-stop flight service between Delhi and Dhaka, with the aim of providing the passengers traveling between the capital cities of India and Bangladesh with enhanced convenience and comfort. The new service is scheduled to begin operations on September 15, 2023, offering four flights per week, utilizing Airbus A320 aircraft. Presently, three Air India weekly flights are operated between Kolkata and Dhaka. The decision to add the additional frequency between Delhi and Dhaka comes in response to the escalating demand for international travel to and from Dhaka, as a result of the rapid economic growth and overall development of Bangladesh.

According to the statement from Air India, the passenger flight designated as AI237 will depart from Delhi at 1755 hours, arriving in Dhaka at 2045 hours. Conversely, the return flight AI238 will leave Dhaka at 2145 hours, reaching Delhi at 2350 hours. All timings mentioned are local. Interested travelers can now book these flights through various channels, including Air India’s official website – www.airindia.com, mobile app, and travel agents, both offline and online. With the addition of these extra weekly flights from Delhi to Dhaka, Air India intends to provide travelers with enhanced frequency and more convenient connections covering 14 destinations inside India and 14 destinations throughout North America, the UK, Australia, the Middle East, and the Far East.

Air India, with its roots tracing back to JRD Tata, has cultivated an extensive domestic network and now offers non-stop flights to a number of cities worldwide, covering regions such as the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Far-East, South-East Asia, Australia, and the Gulf. In January 2022, Tata Group brought Air India and Air India Express under its fold after 69 years as government-owned enterprises. According to the statement, Air India is currently undergoing a major five-year transformation roadmap under the chair of Vihaan.AI, with the vision of becoming a world-class airline with an Indian heart. The ongoing phase, known as the taxi phase, has prioritized essential improvements, including reactivating long-grounded aircraft, talent acquisition for flying and ground activities, technology advancements, and customer care enhancements.

To further enhance the flying experience, Air India has invested more than $400 million in revamping the interiors of all wide-body aircraft as well as set aside an additional $200 million to improve the digital and technological features. Furthermore, in January 2023, Air India placed an industry-record order for 470 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus, with the first planes expected to join the fleet later in the year. These strategic efforts demonstrate Air India’s commitment to evolving into a leading global airline while retaining its distinct Indian identity.
