The Ambanis have a history of interaction with the Trump family. Mukesh Ambani attended several events during Ivanka Trump’s visit to India in 2017, when she served as an advisor to her father. The relationship deepened further in 2024 when Ivanka Trump, her husband Jared Kushner, and their daughter Arabella Rose attended the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Furthermore, the inauguration event was held indoors due to the extreme cold weather in Washington D.C. This is the first time since 1985 that a US presidential inauguration has been moved indoors. The event also featured a traditional church service, a White House tea, and the swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol, followed by President Trump’s inaugural address.

Prominent attendees at the inauguration included a mix of political leaders, business tycoons, and celebrities. Notable guests include Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, tech industry giants such as Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Apple CEO Tim Cook, along with political figures such as President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. Additionally, the Ambanis’ attendance at this historic event is a significant moment in the growing ties between the United States and India. Under Trump’s leadership, the US has sought to strengthen its economic and strategic relationship with India, one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. The presence of leading Indian business figures like the Ambanis at such an important event signals a commitment to furthering these connections.
Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 US Presidential election was a decisive one, securing 312 electoral votes to Kamala Harris’s 226. His victory was marked by strong support in key battleground states, many of which had been crucial in the 2020 election. Trump’s win in Nevada, a state that had not voted Republican since 2004, was particularly significant. The Democratic Party, undergoing a significant shift, saw President Joe Biden opting not to seek re-election after serving one term, which paved the way for Trump’s return to the White House. As the Ambanis attend the swearing-in ceremony, their presence underscores the importance of the US-India business relationship and the strategic ties between Indian business leaders and the Trump administration. The inauguration serves as an important milestone in the future of global business and diplomacy.
