New York, USA (CU)_ The growing number of Indian-Americans in the US administration demonstrates the new administration’s positive impact on the nation. President Joe Biden had earlier said that Indian-Americans are taking over the world. When you look at the Biden administration, you will notice a number of Indian-Americans in the cabinet and key positions. During Obama’s eight years as President of the United States, many Indian-Americans were named to key positions. This was also adopted by the Trump administration. Trump made history by appointing the first Indian-American to a cabinet position and to the National Security Council.

US President Joe Biden is diversifying his administration by recruiting a number of diplomats from ethnic and racial minorities. He declared his intention to nominate Mohsin Raza Syed for the top designation in the Department of Transportation on April 7, 2021. Syed will be nominated for the position of Assistant Secretary of Government at the Department of Transportation, where he is now the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional Affairs.

Earlier, before joining the DOT, Syed had worked in Capitol Hill for over six years and had served in different departments including the Majority Chief Counsel for the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure; Minority Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Aviation Operations, Safety and Security within the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation; and Legislative Counsel for Senator Bill Nelson.

Mohsin had also served as a career Attorney-Adviser in the Department of Transportation’s Office of General Counsel. He also practiced as a private attorney and as an intelligence officer with the Defense Intelligence Agency before joining Capitol Hill. Mohsin graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. and a J.D. He resides with his wife and two sons in Arlington, Virginia.
